Transform Your Kitchen Space

Hello, my name is Katy and this blog is dedicated to how you can improve the interior of your home. Last year, I renovated my kitchen and it completely changed my life. Although I am really happy with the results, I didn't expect it to be so challenging. I kind of jumped in at the deep end, ripped my old kitchen out and then realised I had no idea how to install a new one or even what design I would like to choose. Thankfully, my friend who is a bit of an expert at these things guided me through the entire process and I learnt a lot of useful things. Since then, I have started to rennovate the rest of my home and garden.

Why a Split System AC May Run Constantly

Many homeowners prefer to install split system air conditioning systems because of their numerous advantages, such as the ease of installing them. However, the system may run endlessly during the hot weather for several reasons. This article discusses some of those reasons.

Improper Sizing

Your split system AC may run nonstop because it is too small for the space that it is cooling. An AC may be too small for several reasons. First, the split system AC may have been installed to cool more rooms than its capacity can handle. This can happen when you connect an extension to your home onto an installed split system AC. That extension may overstretch the ability of the AC to cool the combined space.

Secondly, you may have picked a smaller sized unit than you needed. That unit may have worked well during cooler weather. However, its shortcomings may have been exposed when the weather became very hot and the small unit was forced to run constantly in order to cope with the demands made upon it.

Additionally, the tubing linking the external component to the indoor components of the split system AC may be too small for the AC unit. Such small tubes may be unable to transport conditioned air fast enough to keep your home cool. This insufficient flow can cause the unit to work constantly in order to force more air through the small tubing.

Air Leaks

A correctly sized split system AC unit may run constantly if the space where it is working is poorly insulated. For instance, cool air may escape from worn weather-stripping on a nearby window. That leakage can make it hard for the split system AC unit to maintain the temperature within the room at the required level. This can force the unit to work nonstop.

A Faulty Thermostat

Some homeowners may not have the split system air conditioner checked by a professional regularly because they may think that ductless systems are maintenance-free. Such an error may cause the homeowner to fail to identify system components, such as the thermostat, that have broken down. Consequently, the unit may work constantly because the thermostat is unable to detect that the ambient temperature has reached or exceeded the desired level.

Many of the problems that can cause a split system air conditioner to run constantly during hot weather can be avoided by involving a professional during the installation and maintenance of the system. You should therefore invite an HVAC technician to inspect your system in case its constant operation is causing your energy bill to be very high. For more information, read more here.
