Transform Your Kitchen Space

Hello, my name is Katy and this blog is dedicated to how you can improve the interior of your home. Last year, I renovated my kitchen and it completely changed my life. Although I am really happy with the results, I didn't expect it to be so challenging. I kind of jumped in at the deep end, ripped my old kitchen out and then realised I had no idea how to install a new one or even what design I would like to choose. Thankfully, my friend who is a bit of an expert at these things guided me through the entire process and I learnt a lot of useful things. Since then, I have started to rennovate the rest of my home and garden.

What are some different types of garage doors?

If you are looking to update your garage door, the first thing you should decide is exactly what type of door to get. While you can stick with the same door you have now, another option is to upgrade to a brand new type of door. Here are some common types of garage doors to upgrade to.

Traditional Garage Doors

The first type of garage door you can have installed on your garage at home is a traditional garage door. This is a standard raised panel door that often slides up and out, either manually or with a button on your remote or inside the garage. Many of the newer models of traditional garage doors are electric doors for ease and convenience. The materials vary widely based on what your preferences are, from classic wood to long-lasting vinyl or aluminum. You can also get one made of steel, which is more durable and can handle a lot of different weather conditions. Talk to a garage door professional to decide which material is best based on where you live and how much maintenance you are willing to do.

Roller Garage Doors

The next option is a roller garage door, which will roll up into the garage on tracks that have been installed, installed of swinging outward toward you when the door is opened. This door is great when the area in front of the garage is limited since it doesn't require any space for opening. It can also be deemed safer since pets or children playing in the driveway won't get in the way of the door when it is opening or closing. Roller doors are typically made of aluminum or steel. Both of these materials are durable, though steel will often last much longer, while aluminum is less expensive. There are also varied styles and thicknesses with roller garage doors. Work with a roller door installation company for more info.

Carriage House Garage Doors

Finally, you can choose a carriage house–style garage door. This is sometimes called a swinging garage door since it has two doors that swing out in order to open the doors. These doors are great when you want an old-fashioned and historic appearance to your garage, because they look like the old carriage house doors. While many carriage house garage doors swing out, there are also some that slide or fold when opening. The main thing to remember is that there will be two doors instead of one like other types of garage doors. While it has an old-fashioned look, modern features come with the newer carriage house–style doors, including a sensor to recognize when objects are in the way to an electric feature that allows you to control it with the touch of a button. Choose from wood, faux wood, or steel for these doors.
